Leigh A. Benatar
President and Founder

Leigh Benatar founded International Intelligence Associates (IIA) in 1997 to provide a research-based service to support informed decision making. His extensive experience in market analysis, competitive intelligence and strategic planning enables clients to make well-founded tactical decisions and develop successful long-term strategies.

Leigh is a results-oriented research professional with particular expertise in competitive intelligence, quantitative and qualitative market research, analytics, forecasting, and market assessments. He is an adept problem-solver who uses his skills to proactively develop actionable solutions, and identify and exploit business opportunities.

His competitive intelligence and market research skills encompass market assessments, competitive landscapes, pharma and biotech CI, R&D, product introduction strategies, identification and analysis of market trends, market entry, key account profiling, benchmarking, feasibility studies, pricing structures, market sizing and segmentation, brand positioning, value proposition development, strategic planning, growth strategies, and industrial and commercial development. 

Leigh has wide B2B client and industry experience – ranging from pharmaceuticals, technology, manufacturing, financial services, energy, telecom, and aerospace, to CPG – as well as consumer market research. As a consultant, he has conducted research throughout the USA, Latin America, and Europe. This exposure has translated into a vast regional experience, and in-depth knowledge of commercial and trade practices, country’s modus operandi and their competitive practices.

Prior to founding IIA, Leigh was Managing Director at Competitive Intelligence Services (CIS) North America, Director of Competitive Intelligence at SIS International Research, and Market Research Director at Quantum Electronic Database, where he developed extensive research programs globally. 

He holds a B.S. degree from SUNY at Stony Brook, and is a member of the ARF, Esomar, 
the BAA, and SCIP, and is fluent in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese.

Roberto Mena Boldrini 
Partner and EVP Research & Strategy

Roberto is head of research and business strategy at International Intelligence Associates. His professional activities focus on market and competitive intelligence, market entry, strategic marketing, product introduction, and qualitative and ethnographic studies (attitudinal techniques, focus groups and in-depth interviews, observation/empathy, narrative/storytelling, and content analysis). 

Roberto has expertise in all major qualitative and quantitative methods, techniques of structured and unstructured data analysis, interpretation, conclusions and recommendations. His knowledge of local and regional economies, politics, and cultural and social aspects in many different countries allow him to identify and interpret tendencies and trends, and to provide in-depth insights into the competitive landscape and market environments. Roberto has conducted research throughout Latin America, the USA, and the Iberian Peninsula. 

Among multinational companies, business research and consulting clients have included: Banco de Chile, Bristol-Meyer Squibb, Emerson, Kimberly-Clark, Lockheed Martin, Merck, Motorola, Nestlé, Philip Morris, Procter and Gamble, Sanofi, Seagram, Telefónica, Thomson Reuters, Watt´s Alimentos Chile, among others.

Roberto was born in Mendoza, Argentina. He studied at the University of Cuyo, Faculty of Political and Social Sciences, with specialization in communications and semiology, with special emphasis on the analysis of brand identity and the content of messages in advertising and political propaganda. Apart from research and consulting projects, Roberto teaches seminars on Strategic Marketing, Market Research, Competitive Intelligence, Technology Surveillance, innovation projects and new product development. He forms part of the training team of ProMendoza, an organization that promotes exports, with programs for exporters and entrepreneurs. He is also a consultant for the ITECNOR network of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Argentina, and a frequent contributor to newspapers in Argentina. He currently resides in Santiago de Chile and in Mendoza, Argentina.

Roberto adheres to the standards and Code of Ethics set by Esomar, SCIP and AMA.
